CyberReach
About

guyonputer1.jpgCyberReach uses trained male volunteers from the gay, bisexual and queer community in Western Australia to outreach fellow community members in online chat rooms and by using instant messenger programs in a similar way that volunteers currently outreach at social, community and sexual venues such as nightclubs, pubs, and saunas. The outreach volunteers provide information and support around sexuality, safer sex and general health.

When are we online?

CyberReach is available for private chats in the Perth chat rooms on Gay.Com and Gaydar. Outreachers can also  be chatted to by adding chat@cyberreach.com.au  to your msn.  CyberReach is online several times a week but these times may vary throughout the year so come back regularly to check the current times. Either way if you see us online always feel free to chat to us.

We will at no time view your profile or initiate contact with you, and the chat will remain confidential. Read the WA AIDS Council Privacy Policy

Volunteer for CyberReach

CyberReach is currently recruiting volunteers to join the project. We need enthusiastic individuals who are respectful of diversity and have some experience in online chat environments. Free training is provided.

Volunteers will conduct shifts in selected chat rooms and using msn with the aim to deliver health information and sexuality support to men who have sex with men. As the project is run under a peer-based model it is a requirement for volunteers to identify with this target group.

Applications can be made by contacting  Steve Fragomeni the CyberReach  project coordinator:
sfragomeni@waaids.com or on 08 9482 0000

  • Peer Support

Want to find out what it is like for other guys? Want to get support and information from guys who understand where you are coming from? The Project X Team from the Gay/MSM Program at the WA AIDS Council adopts a peer education model in our health promotion, outreach and education. All our programs are run by Gay/MSM guys and one to one peer support is also available.

  • Testing Services

Wanting to find out where you can get an anonymous confidential sexual health check? The Sauna Sexual Health Service and the WAAC HIV/STI STI service provide sexual health information testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and blood borne viruses (BBVs).

  • Workshops

We offer a variety of workshops run by gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men. The Workshops are about exploring our sexuality and making the most of our choices.
