The following assault occurred at Yokin Reserve around 2am on Saturday, 17 April. If you are a victim of, or a witness to, any sort of assault or violence at a beat, then, please report this immediately to the Police. Regardless of your reason for being at a beat, you have every right to report crime to the authorities. The victim was walking across the reserve to his car and encountered 2 young guys on the way. The two guys were described as both around 6 foot tall, one with brown hair and the other with black hair. They appeared to be around 20 or 21 years of age. The perpetrators asked the victim what he was doing at the reserve. The victim ignored them and kept walking toward his car and was threaten by the two men. Just as the victim approached his car, the brown hair punched victim’s arm and knocked him on the ground. At the same time the black hair attempted to damage victim’s car and left marks on the car. Fortunately the victim was able to retrieve a tool from the passenger seat to defend himself and the two perpetrators fled the scene. If you are the victim of an assualt it is important to think about reporting the incident to the police. If such incidents aren’t reported to the police they will have no way of tracking homophobic abuse and violence.
