Attack at Burswood Park.

A man was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning across the road from the Burswood Casino at G O Edwards Park, Burswood. The attack occurred at around 4:30am, January 9, 2011.

The man was approached by an indigenous man who engaged him in conversation. The man reported he was then set upon by four other men who appeared from nowhere.

The man reported to the WA AIDS Council that the five attackers bashed him, knocked him to the ground unconscious, robbed him and then smashed the windows of his vehicle smashed. He was extremely distraught and wanted to warn others of the dangers of this particular park. He has reported the attack to the police and his car is currently being inspected by forensics to collect evidence in order to press charges against the perpetrators of the cowardly attack.

G O Edwards Park is infamous for its attacks late at night and early in the morning. Although guys may not be accessing the park for beat purposes, knowledge that it is a beat makes it a prime target for opportunistic attacks like this.
