Married and Having Sex With Guys

Recently, the Project X Team chanced upon an extremely comprehensive site which consists of a plethora of information for men who have sex with men who do not identify as gay. Most of visitors to this site are heterosexually identifying men, and are or have previously been in heterosexual relationships. Check out the Youtube Video...

The pages of this American site, http://www.marriedgay.org/, first started around the later half of 1999, are principally for men and women who are gay, lesbian or bisexual and married to (or in a relationship with) someone of the opposite sex, and for their spouses, partners or girlfriends / boyfriends to help them to understand what might be going on, typically same sex attractions and mixed orientation relationships or marriage.

The purpose of this site is fourfold:

  • To make the world aware that there are situations where gay people are married to straight people, for whatever reason, and of the issues which surround that.
  • To help those who are in that situation in whatever way we can.
  • To try to encourage those considering marriage to know the consequences, particularly over sexuality issues, so that at least they can make their choice accordingly.
  • To let people who marry know that it's okay to be gay, but they need to be honest with themselves and their partners and allow them to move on if they so wish.

The author of this site is male and married (although now separated from his wife), and is gay. He woke up to his gay side nearly 20 years into his marriage, and frankly, the world was never the same again, either for him or for his wife or his family when he came out to them. It took several years to come to some sort of solution which was workable. That solution for him is separation while at the same time maintaining friendship and mutual support. Out of respect for his family, he generally does not disclose where he is based or very much about himself. Whereas he is not a professional counsellor, he is prepared to talk to others by e-mail, men and women, who need to speak to someone about the situations they find themselves in, to give them support in their time of need. This is always in confidence.

The Project X Team recommends this site. http://www.marriedgay.org/
